What an incredible two days!
The 2023 Clubs Australia Workplace Relations & Human Resources Conference, held on 14 and 15 August, was a remarkable event which provided our clubs with an insight into the prominent changes to legislation and how to deal with the tough issues facing the industry.
Recap of Day 1
We started the day off strong with a presentation by Dr Louise Mahler who brought such high energy to the Conference and gave us all an educational lesson on how to “present” ourselves. We then heard from insightful speakers including Commissioner Hunt who educated on us how the Fair Work Commission makes decisions on matters and how clubs should handle resignations.
To finish the day off, we had the impressive Lynora Brooke who talked about handling conflicts at work.
After the first day of the Conference, we had the opportunity to network and catch up with other HR and WR experts in the club industry.
Recap of Day 2
The second day kicked off with the Honourable Sophie Cotsis, Minister for Industrial Relations and Work Health and Safety. We were very thankful that the Minister was able to speak at our Conference and gave clubs an insight on potential changes to workers compensation and how this will affect clubs.
Later that day, Dan Fuller from 5 Wentworth Chambers gave us all a presentation on the current legislation governing public holidays and provided practical guidance on assisting with rostering staff. If any clubs need further information on this, please reach out to our workplace relations team for further resources.
We finished up with a workshop session which involved Gus Worland from GOTCHA4LIFE. Gus provided an interactive session and tools to facilitate a healthy workplace by promoting mental health and wellbeing.
Overall, the WR&HR Conference was a huge success with almost 200 club representatives attending to strengthen their skills when dealing with workplace relations matters.
Clubs Australia would like to thank all our amazing speakers who attended the event and all the club representatives who came along.
If any clubs would like to access the presentations from the day, they can be found here.
