Recruitment continues to be one of the biggest challenges facing the hospitality industry — and clubs are not immune to this trend, with many clubs operating well below the staffing levels they require to function at their best.
This is making recruitment and retention of staff a high priority. ClubsNSW recently launched a state-wide campaign across regional and metro television, digital streaming services and on social media to support clubs in attracting more people to the industry.
Targeted towards school leavers and delivered prior to the Christmas holiday period, the purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness and plant the seed for a potential career opportunity at the beginning of the new year.
There are hundreds of employment opportunities currently available in the hospitality industry and the campaign aims to communicate how clubs are a viable option for career prospects and pathways for anyone, no matter what their skill level is.
Many staff members often progress upwards and gain exposure to a club’s entire business operations within months, and the campaign highlights how many clubs offer ongoing training and education, a great work and life balance, and most importantly, the satisfaction of making a positive difference within their local communities.
During the campaign, 15 and 30-second TV commercials were launched, achieving 971,745 total impressions with 953,242 completed views. The ads gained a broad reach of devices, including:
- Smart television — 46.71 per cent
- Mobile — 30.34 per cent
- Desktop — 22.95 per cent.
The campaign directed the audience to the new careers section on Yourlocalclub.com.au. So far, the careers page has been viewed up to 1890 times, and continues to increase as more opportunities become available on the site.
Going forward, ClubsNSW will look to relaunch the campaign throughout the year to help support the club industry to attract more staff.
