From Gaming Reform Meetings to Green and Gold Celebrations
The Independent Panel on Gaming Reform met again on Monday where the progress of the NSW Government’s cashless gaming trial was discussed.
Tuesday morning saw the Gambling Advisory Committee catch up, where we talked about the current gaming landscape and gambling reform, after which I jumped in the car and made my way down to Narooma Golf Club for the Regional Networking Dinner. It was great to catch up with everyone and to hear from special guest Greg Page about his commitment to increasing cardiac arrest survival rates through education, access to AEDs, and fostering a community where everyone feels capable to act in an emergency.
Narooma Golf Club has one of the best water views in NSW and it was a pleasure to return there the next morning for the Southern Tablelands & Far South Coast Regional Meeting. A big thank you to General Manager Dominic Connaughton and President Geoff Lanham for hosting us — and congratulations on the Club’s renovations, it looks fantastic.

This week also saw the first meeting of the club industry’s new Domestic Violence Committee take place at Mounties. More than 30 people from over 20 different clubs — regional and metropolitan — attended either in person or online, so well done to those who made the time to join forces for such an important cause. Stay tuned for key action items and for more information about the next meeting.

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at next week’s Clubs Australia WR&HR Conference, as well as at the Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE)! Until then, enjoy the last few days of cheering on our Aussie athletes at the Olympic Games.
It looks like the team at Bankstown Sports Club are having fun serving up French-inspired snacks and screening the games 24/7 as the only officially accredited Australian Olympic Committee live site in southwest Sydney. You can read more about what they have been doing to celebrate here.
Have a lovely weekend.
