With only a few weeks to go until 1 September 2024, clubs with gaming machine entitlements (GMEs) are reminded that they must create and have a Gaming Plan of Management (GPoM) in place by this time.
Key Points
- Clubs are required to have a GPoM in place and maintained by 1 September 2024.
- Clubs can either use the template created by L&GNSW or create their own, ensuring it includes all the required information as outlined in the L&GNSW fact sheet.
A GPoM provides a guide and framework for maintaining responsible gaming practices in your club, which will assist patrons and employees in understanding the club’s responsible conduct of gambling obligations.
Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) have provided a template GPoM that clubs can use to create their own GPoM by filling out applicable sections. The template is available here. Alternatively, clubs can choose to create their own template; however, they must have all the required information as outlined in the GPoM fact sheet, available here.
Some key callouts on the GPOM include:
- It does not need to be approved by L&GNSW or the Authority.
- It must be updated at least annually. It must also be updated if there are any changes to your venue, legislative requirements or emerging risks.
- All staff at the club involved in the conduct of gambling must be trained on the GPoM (an acknowledgement that staff have read the GPoM is required as an attachment to the GPoM).
Checks of GPoMs will be incorporated into inspections by L&GNSW, so it is important that clubs have a GPoM in place by 1 September 2024.
If you have questions about the GPoM, please contact L&GNSW or ClubASSIST.
