Revealing the Strategy & Regulatory Priorities of Hospitality & Racing NSW
Strategy 2025 is a comprehensive breakdown of Hospitality and Racing’s vision, mission, values and strategic priorities from 2023 to 2025. The strategy supports a vibrant, dynamic, safe and responsible liquor and gaming environment.
There are several programs underway to support the delivery of this outcome. These centre around revitalising the night-time economy, live music and hospitality sector, the responsible service of alcohol, and the responsible conduct of gambling.
The Regulatory Priorities for July to December 2023 are the key regulatory and compliance focus areas for Hospitality and Racing NSW. These have been identified based on government priorities and stakeholder feedback.
Clubs should familiarise themselves with both documents as many of the topics covered directly influence the hospitality sector.
What does this mean for clubs?
Some focus areas, particularly over the next six months, impact the club industry.
Hospitality and Racing NSW is committed to delivering the NSW Government’s gaming reform package and conducting a review of the ClubGRANTS scheme in the immediate future.
Other key areas of focus include:
- Further refining reform options from the 2022 Liquor Licence Discussion Paper.
- Undertaking a review of gaming machine shutdown periods.
- Harnessing technology to respond to emerging issues.
Compliance and enforcement remain a significant priority for Hospitality and Racing NSW.
From September to December 2023, Liquor and Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) will conduct regional gaming inspections, VIP Gaming sign inspections and targeted compliance program inspections. In the coming weeks, L&GNSW will be particularly focusing on Byron Bay, Tweed, Wee Jasper and surrounds, Bathurst and Newcastle for regional inspections. This information has been made public on the L&GNSW website.
A summary of key dates relating to compliance and enforcement can be found in the Regulatory Priorities paper linked above.
ClubsNSW will continue proactively working with Hospitality and Racing NSW on priorities relevant to the club industry.
