ClubsNSW is currently undertaking several upgrades to the Multi-Venue Self-Exclusion (MVSE) system so that it directly connects to facial recognition and digital sign-in systems.
Facilitating this connection will better enable clubs to identify and protect excluded patrons, as well as prepare the industry for the technology being mandated by Government.
As part of this project, ClubsNSW is undertaking numerous privacy enhancements to protect patron data stored in the MVSE system, and the integrity of self-exclusion schemes. This has included launching a solution for member clubs to utilise their existing facial recognition and sign-in systems to identify excluded patrons. This change is reinforced by making amendments to the self-exclusion deed and enhancing the MVSE Terms of Access and Data Protection Guidelines.
These changes are in response to an ever-tightening privacy environment, and are designed to protect members, the industry, and the excluded patrons’ data stored in the MVSE system.
In early May, MVSE users were contacted, being instructed to share the details of the facial recognition and sign-in systems with whom they wish to share the MVSE data. As an operator of the MVSE system, ClubsNSW contacted these providers to execute data sharing agreements.
These agreements clarify the obligations and restrictions in place for the use of MVSE data to ensure the integrity of exclusion schemes and protect members from undue privacy risks.
