Clubs Encouraged to Promote NSW Government’s Coercive Control Ad Campaign
Member clubs are advised that the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) has developed a new advertising campaign to educate the NSW public about coercive control, which clubs are encouraged to promote.
The campaign shows diverse experiences of coercive control to help people identify the signs of abuse. Coercive control is when someone repeatedly hurts, scares or isolates another person to control them — it’s domestic abuse and it causes serious harm.
The campaign aims to increase the awareness and understanding of coercive control and support the implementation of the Crimes Legislation Amendment (Coercive Control) Act 2022. It will run across digital and social media channels, and in targeted ‘out-of-home’ placements.
Clubs can help raise awareness and understanding of coercive control by downloading and sharing the following campaign materials across their channels:
- Hero videos 1920 x 1080 (16:9) — download here.
- Social media images 1080 x 1080 (1:1) — download here.
- Landscape digital screen videos 1080 x 1920 (9:16) — download here.
- Vertical digital screen videos 1920 x 1080 (16:9) — download here.
If your club would like to receive printed posters, please email [email protected] with the number of posters you would like to receive, your mailing address and the best contact person at your club by COB Wednesday, 15 May.
The DCJ has put together a helpful toolkit about the campaign, including suggested copy for social media posts and newsletters, recommended responses to comments you may receive, and links to other helpful resources. You can access the toolkit here.
