The opening of submissions for the 2024 Clubs & Community (C&C) Awards was announced at this year’s ClubsNSW Conference & AGM by Rebecca Riant, ClubsNSW CEO.
The C&C Awards are a unique opportunity to share your club’s community contributions with your members and the wider community, as well as recognise the hard work of your staff members and volunteers.
Furthermore, as the political landscape continues to change, submissions for the Awards will help to reinforce the importance of ClubGRANTS in providing crucial support for community initiatives.
ClubsNSW encourages all member clubs to submit at least one story across the following nine award categories:
- Arts, Culture & Entertainment* — previously the Arts & Culture category, this award recognises clubs that are cultivating and promoting arts, culture, and entertainment in the community, including supporting local artists and performers, celebrating Indigenous culture, and hosting festivals and events across the areas of film, music, literature and performing arts.
- Education — recognising support for learning, education and vocational training across all age groups that enhances the lives of those living in the community. This includes funding learning and school programs, providing education and training pathways, and supporting employee learning and development.
- Emergency Services — recognising the generosity, resourcefulness and innovative strategies of clubs providing assistance, care, compassion and/or leadership to their communities during natural disasters (including bushfires, droughts or floods), or through supporting emergency and rescue services.
- Fostering Grassroots Sport — recognising clubs that make a positive impact in their community by enabling and enhancing participation in and enjoyment of junior or senior sport through the provision of facilities, training programs, financial support and/or the contribution of club staff in assisting sporting groups.
- Health Care — recognising contributions to supporting and improving the physical health of the community, including increasing health care accessibility and affordability, providing new health services, improving quality of life, and/or funding health services and initiatives.
- Heart of the Community — recognising the outstanding efforts of clubs and individuals that have had a significant positive impact on their community by contributing to and/or improving the social, cultural, financial, or environmental wellbeing of the community.
- Mental Wellbeing* — recognising innovative club approaches and programs that support and improve the mental wellbeing of members, patrons, and the wider community.
- Social Inclusion* — recognising club programs that are dedicated to fostering unity and acceptance by addressing the needs of a diverse community. This includes, but is not limited to, clubs providing support for veterans and victims of domestic violence, Indigenous programs, celebrations of diversity, responsible gambling initiatives, and supporting those with special needs or disabilities.
- Sustainability — recognising a club's dedication to sustainability as evidenced by the implementation of improvements, projects or initiatives that demonstrate significant real or potential benefit to the environment.
*Category has been reviewed and amended to reflect the challenges that the industry has faced over the last 12 months.
Submissions from last year will be available once you log into the portal and can be re-submitted in this year’s Awards where appropriate.
Entering a submission for the Clubs & Community Awards is simple can be done here. Simply follow these five steps:
- Give your story a title — make it catchy — short titles are best! Make sure you don't use your club name in the title.
