Is Your Club Prepared to Save a Life?
By taking less than five minutes to tell us whether your club has an AED and where it’s located, you can play a critical role in protecting your community.
Heartbeat of Sport, a division of the Heartbeat of Football Foundation, is pleased to introduce an important new initiative being delivered in partnership with the NSW Office of Sport through its Project Support Program.
Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in sport and our community. Immediate access to an automated external defibrillator (AED) and CPR can dramatically improve survival outcomes — with studies showing up to a 70 per cent survival rate when defibrillation occurs within the first few minutes. Time matters and knowing where the nearest AED is located can save lives.
This project will establish a comprehensive, centralised AED mapping database across all sports and communities in NSW, enabling better visibility of where AEDs are located — and just as importantly, identifying where they are not. The data will be shared and directly support NSW Ambulance and its GoodSAM emergency response system, allowing first responders and bystanders to locate the nearest AED in real time during an emergency.
We are seeking your support and engagement to help consolidate AED location data within your venues. By working together, we can help build a safer environment for participants, officials, volunteers and spectators across all levels of sport.
