ClubsNSW has welcomed the passing of NSW Government workers compensation reforms, describing the changes as an important step towards easing cost pressures on community Clubs across the state.
The reforms are designed to stabilise the workers compensation system, which has seen rising premiums place increasing strain on the financial sustainability of Clubs and their ability to continue supporting local communities.
ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant says the changes will provide greater certainty for Clubs while ensuring injured workers remain supported.
“Rising workers compensation premiums have been placing increasing strain on the financial sustainability of community Clubs,” Riant says.
“These reforms are an important step towards stabilising the system and ensuring Clubs can continue to employ local staff, deliver community programs and reinvest back into the communities that they serve.”
ClubsNSW also acknowledged the role of both sides of Parliament in progressing the reforms, commending the NSW Labor Government for advancing the legislation and the Coalition for working constructively to reach an agreement.
“We applaud the Government for acting to stabilise the workers compensation system to deliver a more sustainable framework for employers and workers,” Riant says.
“These changes strike a more appropriate balance between supporting injured workers and maintaining a workers compensation system that remains affordable for community Clubs.”
