ACMA Disrupts Unlawful Gambling Operators
Illegal online gambling websites represent a threat to the Australian public. Many Australians unknowingly access illegal gambling websites, often losing significant amounts of money.
In many cases, operators have refused to honour deposits or pay out winnings, leaving consumers out of pocket.
Under Australian law, online casinos, slot machines and betting services operated without an Australian gambling licence are prohibited. To combat this, the ACMA uses a range of enforcement measures, including website blocking. Since its first blocking request in November 2019, ACMA has blocked 1455 illegal gambling and affiliate websites.
These sites often appear legitimate but lack essential consumer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services face increased risks of harm and financial loss. A list of licensed wagering services permitted to operate in Australia is available here.
The ACMA has the power to direct internet service providers to block an illegal gambling website, disrupting operations and protecting Australians from accessing these potentially harmful illegal gambling websites.
The most recent sites to be blocked include:
- Abu King
- BetAlice
- Dragon Slots
- Nova Jackpot
- Power Up Casino
- QuickWin
- Roby Casino
- Rocketspin
- Rooster Bet
- Vegasino
- Vegas Now
- Winbay
Clubs can make a complaint to the ACMA or access a full list of blocked sites here.
