The Minns Labor Government has confirmed that two of the biggest names in world football — Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur — will headline the Sydney Super Cup 2026, a four-team tournament set to attract thousands of visitors and generate significant economic benefits for New South Wales.
The Sydney Super Cup will be staged exclusively in Sydney, with Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur competing alongside Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in a series of high-profile matches. The event aligns with the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035, which targets a $91 billion visitor economy through a dynamic calendar of major events.
Three matches will be held across Accor Stadium and Allianz Stadium, expected to draw both domestic supporters and international travellers. Chelsea FC will meet Western Sydney Wanderers on 29 July at Accor Stadium, followed by Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea FC on 1 August. The tournament will conclude with Tottenham Hotspur vs Sydney FC on 5 August at Allianz Stadium. Match arrangements remain subject to standard international sanctions.
In a major boost for women’s football, Chelsea FC Women will visit Sydney to take on the A-League Women All Stars on 12 August at Allianz Stadium. Featuring global stars including Matildas favourites Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter, the match promises to bring significant attention to the women’s game while continuing to drive visitation to the state.
The Sydney Super Cup adds to an already impressive list of major sporting events secured for 2026, including the United Cup, New Year’s Ashes Test, Sydney Sail Grand Prix, AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Sydney 500, State of Origin, NRL and NRLW Grand Finals, Rugby League World Cup and the TCS Sydney Marathon Abbott World Marathon Major. Tickets go on sale from 13:00 on Friday 12 December.
Minister for Jobs and Tourism and Minister for Sport Steve Kamper says the event will reinforce Sydney’s position as Australia’s football capital.
Kamper says the Sydney Super Cup is “another goal for our state,” calling it an opportunity for fans to enjoy premier international football while supporting the local visitor economy.
He also highlights the importance of the women’s match, noting: “Alongside this blockbuster, we’re thrilled to announce a marquee women’s fixture. Chelsea FC Women will take on the Women’s A-League All Stars.
“These four matches will give visiting fans the chance for an extended stay in our beautiful Harbour City, taking in our iconic natural attractions and vibrant cultural experiences in one of the world’s great sporting destinations.”
