Bankstown Sports Service to Sport Medal and Awards Night
Bankstown Sports celebrated its contribution to local sporting groups with its Service to Sport Medal and Awards Night on 20 October 2025.

Over 230 guests, including volunteers, members of parliament and government representatives were there to celebrate and showcase volunteers who make grassroots sports possible across Bankstown.
Attendees on the night were treated to a 3-course meal, drinks and entertainment including from musician duo: Top Shelf Live, Benny the Magician and a Panel with guests Robbie Slater and Benji Marshall.
The night provided the perfect opportunity to come together and highlight the invaluable contribution of volunteers across 38 sporting clubs. Michael Clancy, Bankstown Sports CEO, noted the invaluable contributions of volunteers and supporting grassroots sports:
“Supporting grassroots sport is in our DNA. Being able to celebrate and showcase our volunteers on the night is vital to the fabric of our club and the community we represent,” Michael says.
Whilst there were many worthy nominees, the award winners on the night were:
- Service to Sport (20+ Years of Service): Joseph Hanna (Bankstown Sports Bowls Club), Matt Whitbread and Colin Whitbread (Bankstown Sports Athletics)
- Volunteer of the Year: Houda Hamze (Bankstown Sports Stars Football Club)
- Young Volunteer of the Year: Emma Duggan (Bankstown Sports Bullsharks AFL Club)
- Club of the Year: Bankstown Sports Junior Rugby League Club
- Community Program of the Year: Birrong Sports Football Club’s Japanese Cultural Exchange Program
The night was full of energy, gratitude and community spirit, celebrating the volunteers who keep local sport thriving. Congratulations Bankstown Sports Club for putting on a fantastic night.
