Pittwater RSL is set to redefine pickleball on the Northern Beaches with the launch of ‘Sip & Pickle - Pickleball by Pittwater’, featuring five purpose-built outdoor courts that blend sport with premium club hospitality.
Opening Sunday, 2 November, these aren't just pickleball courts — they're the centrepiece of an entirely new social experience that invites players to "come for a game, stay for the afternoon”.
What sets Pittwater's offering apart is the seamless integration of sport and hospitality. Unlike standalone facilities, Pickleball by Pittwater connects directly to The Deck and the full breadth of Pittwater’s amenities.
"We've built something unique. Our purpose-built courts that are the only ones of their kind on the Northern Beaches, combined with direct access to premium food and beverage, undercover seating, and full Club facilities," says Pittwater RSL CEO Jason Manning.
"You can play a game, grab lunch and enjoy a drink, and make an afternoon of it with a group of friends or workmates. That's the difference."
Inspired by Miami's "Sip & Pickle" culture, the courts showcase vibrant, colourful designs with striking street artwork by local artist Harley Stevenson along the surrounding walls and walkway, creating a youthful, contemporary aesthetic for the court space.
The public is invited to the official launch of Pickleball by Pittwater on 2 November, featuring free pickleball clinics by the Northern Beaches Pickleball Association, live music, kids’ entertainment and a family barbecue.
While competitive players are welcome at the new venue, the focus is on the social pickleball experience that the broader community can enjoy.
"We're targeting the players who are here for fun, fitness and connection," says Jason.
"This is about creating a space where you can bring friends, make new ones, enjoy quality food and drinks, and play pickleball. It's social sport done properly."
The space includes five purpose-built outdoor courts (the only purpose-built pickleball courts on the Northern Beaches), access to all of the Club’s premium food and beverage facilities, equipment available for hire and purchase, Club benefits and member discounts, and corporate and private event bookings.
The Sip & Pickle courts is an exciting component of the Club’s major redevelopment project, which will also include a new five-star entry portico and premium member parking throughout 2025-2026.
"This is about setting new standards for what a community club can be," says Jason. "We're creating spaces that honour our RSL heritage while delivering world-class hospitality and recreation."
