Boolaroo Sports Club has made history by electing its first female president.
At its Annual General Meeting held at the Club on 28 September, Nicky Shaw was elected to the dual roles of both President and Treasurer.
Nicky has served as a Director and Treasurer for the Club over the past three years, and was subsequently re-elected to the Board through to 2027.
“The Club was honoured to have Councillor Adam Schultz, Mayor of Lake Macquarie, attending the meeting and accepting the position of Patron,” says Boolaroo Sports Club General Manager Peter Goodwin.
“Graeme Simpson, Life Member and Patron, was also in attendance, along with Mark Conway, President of Greater Newcastle Bowls.”
Located in the picturesque Lake Macquarie region, Boolaroo Sports Club first opened its doors in 1927, with Nicky making history as the first female President in the Club’s proud 98-year history.
Along with providing the ideal setting to enjoy a game of competitive or barefoot bowls, the Club also caters to the wider community, with a recently added children’s play area and dining space for local families to enjoy.
