Blue Mountains Golf Clubs Unite to Drive Tourism
The Blue Mountains World Heritage area, just 90 minutes from Sydney, has long been a spectacular drawcard for visitors from across Australia and the globe.
Now, the three Upper Blue Mountains golf clubs – Wentworth Falls, Leura and Blackheath – have teamed up to market the region as Blue Mountains Golf Destinations (BMGD), aiming to establish it as a must-play golfing hub.
With three quality courses within a 10km radius, supported by an abundance of accommodation options and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Blue Mountains, BMGD is positioning itself to attract individual golfers, touring groups and families alike.
The soon-to-be-opened Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport will put the region within an hour’s reach for international tourists.
To launch the new brand, BMGD will host a three-day golf event between 19 – 21 September, with one day of play at each course.
Running in partnership with ShootOut Golf, the competition offers a unique twist – any golfer can win the main prize of a trip to Las Vegas for the world final at the Ultimate NRL in Vegas event, regardless of their daily score. Daily prizes include Scottie Cameron putters and other golf gear.
Beyond the ShootOut, BMGD is developing a range of one, two and three-day play-and-stay packages to make planning a Blue Mountains golf getaway even easier. Planned events include school holiday clinics and family-friendly competitions, offering a welcoming introduction to golf for visitors and locals alike.
With green fees lower than comparable metropolitan courses and a cool climate that makes for enjoyable play year-round, the Blue Mountains offers the perfect blend of sport, scenery and hospitality.
As BMGD puts it: “With a spectacular destination, excellent accommodation and food options, and fantastic golf courses – why wouldn’t you make the Blue Mountains Golf Destinations top of your list?”
