Historic $100,000 Members Badge Draw Win at St Marys Rugby League Club
St Marys Rugby League Club has celebrated a landmark moment in its 44-year history, with a record-breaking $100,000 Members Badge Draw jackpot claimed on 28 May.
The atmosphere in the Club was electric as the life-changing sum was officially awarded to a long-time and much-loved member, who wishes to remain anonymous.
The crowd erupted with cheers and applause as the lucky member’s name was called during the draw of the night. It was the ultimate celebration of loyalty and community at the Club.
“I just couldn’t believe it – I was shaking and I was shocked. People were shaking my hand as I walked to the stage to claim the win and cheering loudly for me,” says the lucky winner.
“I’ve attended the Club weekly since joining and never thought I would win the badge draw, especially at $100,000.”
“I didn’t think it was real until the money hit my account. I am still in shock. I have never won anything in my life, not even on a scratchy or Lotto. I consider myself very lucky.”
A loyal Saint since 2009, the lucky member travels across many suburbs and has attended the Club on a weekly basis with her friends, who also live outside the local area.
She hinted that the money would go towards paying bills and humbly sharing with her children and grandchildren.
The staggering jackpot had been building over several months, with anticipation intensifying at each unclaimed draw.
The win marks not only the Club’s largest-ever Members Badge Draw jackpot, but also one of the biggest membership-based jackpot wins in the Greater Western Sydney region.
“We’re absolutely thrilled for our member and her family,” says St Marys Rugby League Club CEO, Rod Desborough.
“This is what it’s all about – rewarding our members, celebrating community and creating unforgettable moments. The atmosphere in the Club on the night was absolutely electric. You could feel the energy and excitement everywhere.”
Over a thousand hopeful members were on hand for Wednesday’s draw, eagerly listening for their name as the Club’s promotions host took the stage.
The build-up to the jackpot has driven record numbers through the Clubs’ doors, helping to further solidify Saints’ place as a central hub for entertainment and community connection in Penrith.
“It’s been a phenomenal few months,” says Marketing Manager Giulia Barron.
“The buzz around the draw has created real momentum. We’ve seen old friends reconnect, new members join, and an amazing sense of excitement that shows just how important our club is to the community.
“This win is a celebration for everyone.”
The Members Badge Draw is a long-standing tradition at St Marys Rugby League Club. It runs twice weekly – Sundays at 2:30pm, 4:30pm and 6:30pm, and Wednesdays at 7pm, 8pm and 8:30pm.
The prize jackpot started again on Sunday at $20,000 and jackpots by $1000 each draw day if not won, leading to incredible build-up potential.
