ACMA Blocks More Illegal Online Gambling Websites
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has requested more illegal gambling and affiliate-marketing websites be blocked after investigations found these services to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (the Act).
Illegal online gambling and affiliate-marketing websites represent a threat to the Australian public. Many Australians unknowingly access illegal gambling websites, often losing significant amounts of money. There have also been instances where online providers have refused to honour deposits and winnings.
In Australia, online casinos, slot machines and betting services where the operator does not have an Australian gambling licence are not permitted.
ACMA has the power to direct internet service providers to block an illegal gambling website so that no one in Australia can use it. This disrupts operations and protects Australians from the potential harm of illegal gambling websites.
The most recent sites to be blocked include:
- JokaRoom
- AUDPokies888
- Aura Play
- Instant Casino
- Leon
- Rich Papa
- UUSpin
- Wild Pokies.
