Greta Workers’ Biggest Morning Tea Raises $7000 For Cancer Council
There are few things better than a nice hot cuppa in the morning, especially when that comes with a side of thousands of dollars raised for charity.
While the mugs and cups were sipped, and some bickies and treats were enjoyed, The Biggest Morning Tea at the Greta Workers Club raised almost $7000 for Cancer Council.
The Club itself donated $3000, with the remainder contributed from generous donations and purchases from attendees, as well as online for those who couldn’t be there.
Cake sales, raffles and a tea pot challenge were all part of the fun.
“It was a fantastic success!” said Greta Workers Club Assistant Manager Nicole Rollason.
“With 96 attendees we raised a total of $6,891.20 for cancer so it’s clear that the community came together generously.
“The fact it was going towards a cause like the Cancer Council, the impact of this event will surely resonate with our local community and hopefully will go a long way.”
As well as their $3000 donation, the Club was also committed to the cause by covering the event’s catering costs.
In supporting the event, the Club also particularly paid tribute to Helen Scott, who was responsible for organising the event.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, which began 30 years ago, is a community event that raises vital funds to make a big difference for those impacted by cancer.
