Moorebank Sports Club Mourns Loss of Long-Time President
Moorebank Sports Club is mourning the loss of long-time President Bob Fleeton.
Bob’s association with the south-western Sydney community started in 1975 when he volunteered to become the President of the Moorebank Rams junior rugby league football club.
He was one of the key figures in the establishment of Sporties, dedicating an enormous amount of his time with the local council, lawyers, banks, architects and builders. This led to him becoming the inaugural President when Moorebank Sports Club opened its doors in 1994.
Bob dedicated most of his adult life to supporting junior sport in the Moorebank, Wattle Grove, Holsworthy and Hammondville areas.
Over the years under Bob’s leadership, Moorebank Sports Club has contributed millions of dollars in funding to support local sporting codes and community groups, while thousands of players from under-six to open age have engaged in sport under the Sporties’ banner.
This season, more than 1600 players are proudly running out onto the field or court wearing our colours, funded largely by the legacy Bob created.
Bob dedicated 29 years to the Club and only recently resigned from his position, after stepping down from President to a Director role, due to his ailing health.
The industry’s thoughts are with Bob’s family.
