A Call for Clubs to Come Together
On Monday, Rebecca and I caught up with RSL & Services Clubs Association CEO Margot Smith and Chair Dean Thomas — which is always a pleasure — while on Tuesday, Rebecca attended a special business luncheon hosted by AmCham, where I’m told NSW Premier Chris Minns delivered an insightful address.
AmCham is described as “the voice of international business interests, throughout Australia and the US” and the event was a great opportunity for Rebecca to network with other business, government and thought leaders across the spectrum.
Speaking of events, you might have seen an article on ClubLIFE.com.au earlier this week announcing Australian comedian and TV personality Dave Hughes as the host of the ClubsNSW Conference dinner, where the theme will be ‘Around the World’. Attendees will be encouraged to embrace the spirit of global diversity by dressing up in attire that reflects different cultures and traditions.
The Conference — returning to the Gold Coast once again — will be upon us before we know it, and the program looks fantastic, so be sure to secure your tickets soon here if you haven’t already!

In case you missed it, earlier this week ClubsNSW issued a circular announcing the formation of a new Domestic Violence Committee within the club industry to advocate for, and cultivate, safer communities. This initiative will bring the state’s clubs together to create a unified approach to addressing domestic, family and sexual violence, and the first meeting will be held next Tuesday, 6 August from 10am until 12pm at Mounties.
I encourage clubs to get involved in this important initiative. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Arely Carrion, Executive Manager Community Mounties Group, via email.
And if your club has formed a new relationship with a domestic violence charity or shelter, or if you are doing anything else to assist those impacted by the scourge of domestic violence, please let our ClubLIFE team know by sending an email to [email protected].

A reminder too that ClubsNSW recently released a webinar on cyber safety, designed specifically for clubs that do not currently have cybersecurity measures in place. The recorded webinar consists of a series of short practical videos based on advice from the Australian Cybersecurity Centre and they are all available here.
