Mathoura Bowling Club Nominated as Finalist in Local Awards
Mathoura Bowling Club, in the state’s Riverina & South West region, has been selected as a finalist in the Hospitality category of the 2024 Campaspe Murray Business Awards.
The Club in the small town of Mathoura — population of approximately 900 — is up against four other businesses in the region, and has been nominated for the first time.
The awards recognise and reward local businesses across the Campaspe and Murray shires with applicants assessed on their business achievements, service, commitment to professional development, management, and business planning and direction.
Mathoura Bowling Club CEO Adam Parker says the recognition is an exciting time for both the town and the employees at the venue.
“To have a sporting club in a small town nominated is actually quite an achievement, but to have one that's actually operating as well as what we are in some fairly tough economic times, we're pretty satisfied with that,” Adam said.
"We're just super thrilled to be nominated to be honest and we're getting a lot of positive feedback now from our customers who are coming here.”
The Club is up for three chances of winning at the awards night. Firstly, for the hospitality category, which is judged in person by a panel, secondly for the Business of the Year and thirdly for the People’s Choice Award — an award which is voted on by the public.
“Oh, look we'd be thrilled if you want to vote for us, voting is really easy and what it'll do is put our little Club on the map,” Adam said.
“As you know, hospitality is a pretty tough gig, and it can be fairly thankless at times so we would just love to get the support."
The Gala Presentation evening, where all category winners and Business of the Year will be announced, will be held on Wednesday 30 October at the Rich River Golf Club.
