Club Managers and Directors Recognised by MPs
To be able to understand and meet community needs, effective communication and liaison with all of your club’s stakeholders is critically important.
This includes engaging with members of parliament in order to understand local priorities, identify mutual interests and goals, and develop partnerships.
With clubs at the forefront of their local communities, it’s common to see local, state and federal politicians involved with their local clubs.
Cabra-Vale Diggers, in Sydney’s southwest, enjoys a healthy relationship with their local members, with the likes of Mayor Frank Carbone, state MP Tri Vo and federal MP Dai Le regularly in attendance at the Club’s events.
Most recently, Mr Vo was on hand at the Club to present certificates of recognition to club staff and board members from across the local community.
The event, which was planned by Mr Vo himself, was also attended by the Minister for Gaming and Racing, David Harris.
“Engaging with local MPs is crucial because they represent the interests of the community,” says Cabra-Vale Diggers CEO Boris Belevski.
“By connecting with them, we can ensure that our members’ concerns are heard at the government level. This engagement also allows us to raise awareness about how government policies may impact our members.”
Among those recognised by Mr Vo were Cabra-Vale Diggers President Walter Robinson, Vice President Ronnie Moore, CEO Boris Belevski, General Manager Michael Foulkes, Canley Heights RSL President Richard Pritchard, St Johns Park Bowling Club Treasurer George Humphries, Mounties Group President John Dean, CEO Dale Hunt and General Manager Jason Wood.
“Clubs play a vital role in improving the lives and outcomes for their local communities, it’s the essence of who we are and what we do. Being recognised by the local MP in a community recognition statement was truly humbling,” says Boris.
After the presentation, Minister David Harris conducted a question-and-answer seminar with invited guests, answering a range of questions pertaining to issues in the club industry.
“We were honoured to have Minister Harris attend our event. His willingness to engage with our group and answer industry-related questions was both unexpected and greatly appreciated,” says Boris.
