Warm the Hearts and Fill the Plates of Those in Need
As the temperature drops, Wests Group Macarthur wants to warm the hearts and fill the plates of those in need this winter.
They have partnered with Big Yellow Umbrella for the Yellow Hampers food relief program in order to improve food security.
Macarthur families are feeling the pinch from rising costs, including higher interest rates, increased weekly rental payments and growing grocery bills.
As a result, Big Yellow Umbrella has seen a broader range of people seeking support in recent months.
“The cost of living has meant local families cannot afford fresh fruit and vegetables and we are inundated with requests for support,” said Kim Landouw from Big Yellow Umbrella.
Wests and Big Yellow Umbrella are actively seeking donations of non-perishable pantry items, with a six-month shelf life, to be used in take-home hampers supporting the Big Yellow Umbrella Yellow Hampers program.
Food donation boxes will be available in reception areas of Wests League Club, Country Club Gledswood Hills, Lakeside Golf Club and Big Yellow Umbrella head office in Narellan.
Members of Wests Group Macarthur and the community can contribute non-perishable pantry items until Sunday 30 June.
“At Wests, we strongly believe in empowering our incredible community partners to deliver what is needed, when people need it,” said Wests Group Macarthur CEO Daniel Perkiss.
“Big Yellow Umbrella does an exceptional job of supporting both individuals and families within the local community. We are pleased to partner to support the Yellow Hampers appeal.”
Big Yellow Umbrella is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing services to the community since 1987.
They support strong and empowered communities, where people of all ages and backgrounds are supported to actively participate in community life, reducing isolation and disadvantage and improving overall quality of life.
Wests Group is committed to empowering the Macarthur community through social support, education and donations. They adopt tailored strategies to ensure the diverse needs of individuals, families and groups are met.
