Our First Vibrancy Forum, Plus the Relaunch of ‘Clubs Helping Clubs’
This week saw me and a number of our team travel up to Narrabri to host the first ClubsNSW forum to discuss vibrancy and gaming reforms and how these will shape the future of the club industry, with a specific focus on clubs in regional NSW.
Held at Narrabri Bowling Club and facilitated by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), the session allowed us to hear from regional club representatives about their unique challenges, experiences and prospects.
A massive thanks to Narrabri Bowling Club CEO Paul Gordon who hosted us, and to West Tamworth League Club Deputy CEO James Cooper and Armidale Ex Services Club CEO Scott Sullivan who both did a fantastic job as part of the design council to frame the session to make it as productive as possible.
The second regional vibrancy and gaming reform forum will be held in Griffith on 18 September, with a third to take place in Sydney at a date to be confirmed. We will also be having a Sydney city-based vibrancy and gaming forum at a date to be determined!
ClubsNSW will use the information gained from these forums to help inform its advocacy strategy moving forward, so stay tuned for further updates. We promise to share the insights we have gathered and share them so that everyone has the opportunity to ensure their concerns have been addressed and they have the opportunity to contribute.
The next day, I attended the New England Tablelands and North West Regional Dinner at Narrabri RSL Club, with the Regional Meeting taking place the following morning back at Narrabri Bowling Club. It was fantastic to be able to catch up properly with everyone — and I extend a huge thank you to Narrabri Bowling Club President Colin Armstrong and CEO Paul Gordon (again!) and his team for hosting us twice in one week!
The 2024 ClubsNSW Conference & AGM is fast approaching, and it’s important to ClubsNSW that all member clubs have the opportunity to attend and have their voices heard.
We know that the cost of Conference tickets, flights and accommodation can add up quickly — especially in a cost-of-living crisis — so, as you might have seen yesterday, ClubsNSW has relaunched the Clubs Helping Clubs initiative. As part of this, we are looking to some of our larger member clubs to purchase a Conference ticket, or tickets, which we can offer to smaller member clubs. So far, we have 20 tickets on offer — thank you Mounties Group CEO Dale Hunt and Bankstown Sports CEO Michael Clancy for these generous purchases! ClubsNSW will also assist eligible clubs with accommodation and travel costs.
If you are interested in participating in the Clubs Helping Clubs initiative, either by purchasing a Conference ticket for a smaller club or by receiving a ticket from a larger club, please click here, or send an email to [email protected] and we will get the ball rolling. Please be aware that tickets will be limited and there is eligibility criteria — smaller clubs must earn less than $1 million in gaming revenue and must not be part of an amalgamated group. You can find out more about Clubs Helping Clubs here.
As you would have read in Sallianne’s Friday Round-Up, last week we were in Orange for News Corp’s National Bush Summit, for which Your Local Club was a proud state partner. I’m pleased to announce that you can now stream all of the Bush Summit content — from the address delivered by Premier Chris Minns right through to the closing remarks from Broken Hill Musician’s Club General Manager Michael Boland — here. Michael did a great job representing our industry — he did us proud! Enjoy!
Speaking of Sallianne, on Monday she attended Campbelltown RSL Club for the historical groundbreaking ceremony for the Club’s new development — and judging by the pictures, they had a perfect spring day for it.
Keep an eye out early next week for an exciting announcement about entertainment for the ClubsNSW Conference Dinner. Until then, have a great weekend.
