How ClubsNSW’s Chief Member Officer Has Spent Her First Two Months
- Executive Column
Time certainly does fly, as it marks two months since I started in my role as Chief Member Officer at ClubsNSW.
The song ‘I’ve been everywhere man’ plays in my head as I reflect on what has been a very busy period. I’ve been on the road — from Moama to Yamba, the inner city, and even travelling from the Central Coast to present the trophy at the St Patricks Race Day at Broken Hill in the Riverina & South West region.
The regional meeting circuit has been the perfect opportunity to meet so many of our members and connect with clubbies across the state. It has been amazing listening to the wealth of stories that underpin how clubs are contributing to their local communities in both large and small ways, and understanding how ClubsNSW can assist and support clubs to continue this valued work.
What I am hearing from the meetings, and what will certainly be a focus for the Member Services team, are the battles the industry is facing with the rising cost-of-living and rising beer costs, labour shortages as well as clarity on board governance requirements, continuous updates on ClubGRANTS and further clarity on the role of the Responsible Gambling Officers. I am also aware of the cost struggle that some smaller clubs face when choosing to attend regional meetings.
For context, the below departments fall within the newly created Member Services team:
- ClubSAFE
- Member Experience
- Learning & Development (CEI)
- ClubASSIST
Our aim as a team is to continue building lasting relationships and ensuring members thrive by promoting transparency, collaboration and two-way conversations throughout the industry. We want to ensure we can deliver on your preferences, pain points and strategies pertaining to your club in an easy and swift manner.
For me, next steps mean working on the next round of regional meetings, getting out to individual clubs and mastering all the acronyms of the industry!
Thank you for the warm welcome, it certainly validates the smart choice to join ClubsNSW. I am looking forward to catching up at your local club or at the Clubs & Community Awards night on 6 June — you can purchase tickets here if you haven’t already.
