Yes, you read that headline correctly — this will be the final edition of the Friday Round-Up, or the ‘FRUP’ as it has become affectionately known in the ClubsNSW office.
Sallianne came up with the idea for the Friday Round-Up in March last year as a way to keep you, our members, across the activities of the ClubsNSW Board and Sallianne in her role as Acting CEO during what was a challenging and uncertain time for the industry.
Now, Sallianne and I are confident that the FRUP has served its purpose, and we are committed to keeping you informed and up to date via regular columns on ClubLIFE.com.au, at ClubsNSW Regional Meetings, in webinars and through other industry events and communication channels.
Speaking of communication channels, if you haven’t listened to our brand-new ClubLIFE Podcast yet, do yourself a favour and tune in! You can expect to see a new episode released every fortnight, so be sure to subscribe on Apple, Spotify or wherever you stream your favourite podcasts. And if you have any suggestions regarding guests you would like to hear on the podcast, please send the team an email at [email protected].

Before I jump into the week that was, a reminder that daylight saving kicks off this long weekend. On Sunday, 6 October at 2am the clocks move forward to 3am. To find out how this will impact your casual club employees, click here.

This week, we have been flat out preparing for next week’s ClubsNSW Conference & AGM — from setting up smaller clubs with tickets generously donated by larger clubs through the Clubs Helping Clubs initiative to tweaking the seating plan for the ‘Around the World’-themed Conference Dinner. I can’t wait to see Boom Crash Opera perform, and I’m equally looking forward to catching up with you all on the Gold Coast. You can find the full ClubsNSW Conference program here.
Yesterday, we released the 100th episode of ClubTV! Episode 100, which you can watch here, takes a look at the support that Ryde Eastwood Leagues, Gladesville RSL and North Ryde RSL are providing local families struggling with the cost of living through the ClubGRANTS scheme.
After learning that some local children were turning up to school hungry, these clubs banded together to find a solution — and students are now turning up to the classroom well-fed as a result. Yet another example of the vital role our clubs play in their communities. This ClubTV episode will form the basis of the seventh iteration of our ClubGRANTS advertising campaign. Keep an eye out for more information on that!
It sounds like Sallianne had a fantastic time on the Tully Heard study tour in London. The group visited 30 different hospitality venues across seven days, with a particular focus on those offering competitive socialisation or active entertainment (you can read more about that trend here). She will report back on her learnings in due course!
Well, that’s it for now. Have a wonderful long weekend — and best of luck to our friends at Panthers Penrith for the NRL Grand Final!
