Prime Minister and Opposition Leader Attend Special Event at Workers Blacktown
The Prime Minister and Opposition Leader have continued their pitch to voters ahead of the federal election on Saturday, 3 May.
Both leaders were in attendance at The Daily Telegraph’s special Future Western Sydney event held at Workers Blacktown today.
It was the first time that Mr Albanese and Mr Dutton have met face-to-face since the start of the election campaign.
Future Western Sydney is a Daily Telegraph initiative celebrating the triumphs of the dynamic, multicultural area at a time when huge infrastructure projects, including the city’s second international airport, are surging ahead.
Today’s Future Western Sydney event was proudly supported by the Workers Lifestyle Group and ClubsNSW under the Your Local Club brand.
During Q&A sessions with The Daily Telegraph’s Editor Ben English, both leaders were asked to describe Western Sydney in one word, with Mr Albanese responding with ‘opportunity’ while Mr Dutton described the region as a ‘powerhouse’.
Mr Albanese and Mr Dutton both used the event to continue spruiking their election promises, including major infrastructure projects and boosting the healthcare system.
Among those in attendance were Executive Chairman of News Corp Australasia Michael Miller and News Corp’s Managing Director for NSW John Lehmann, along with politicians including Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke, Education Minister Jason Clare, Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie and NSW Minister for the Night-time Economy John Graham.
Australians will head to the polls on Saturday, 3 May, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hoping to secure a second term in office and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton looking to return the Coalition to power for the first time since May 2022.
