Pitt Town Sports Amalgamates with Parra Group
Parramatta Leagues Group has expanded to four clubs after amalgamating with Pitt Town Sports — a strategic move into the fast-growing northwest Sydney region.
After being approved by members of both clubs earlier this year, the amalgamation was formally marked with a ceremony at the Pitt Town venue on Friday, 12 June.
Pitt Town Sports will retain its name and identity as it joins a thriving western Sydney group which includes Parramatta Leagues Club, Viking Sports Club and Dural Club.
Parra Group President Mark Jenkins welcomed Pitt Town Sports into the fold, saying the Club had “served its community with pride for decades” and would continue to do so.
“This is a partnership built on shared values — supporting local sport, strengthening community connection and investing in the places where people live," Mr Jenkins said.
"We understand the role this venue plays in the Pitt Town and Hawkesbury community, particularly during times of natural disaster.
“Pitt Town Sports sits on a primary evacuation route and serves as a designated assembly and shelter point during flood and bushfire events. That role matters.
“We are committed to working with Hawkesbury City Council, emergency services and government at all levels to explore how we can expand and strengthen that function for the benefit of the entire region."
Having successfully amalgamated with Viking Sports in 2004 and Dural Club in 2023, Parra Group has a clear blueprint to follow with Pitt Town Sports.
“Our model is simple — preserve local identity, invest in facilities and deliver better outcomes for members and their communities,” Parra Group CEO Chris Dimou said.
“Pitt Town Sports will keep its name, its character and its connection to the area. What changes is the support behind it.
"We are already progressing plans to modernise the venue, including an expanded bistro, improved layout and a stronger connection between the Club and its surrounding playing fields and outdoor areas.
“These upgrades will create a more open, family-friendly environment and position the Club for the significant population growth forecast for this part of Sydney."
According to Pitt Town Sports President Brad Cairns, the move will sustain the Club over the long term.
"This partnership preserves the future of Pitt Town Sports Club while extending our reach within the community,” Mr Cairns said.
“It respects the traditions, history and connections we have built in the Hawkesbury region.
“Our members voted unanimously to proceed because they could see the value — better facilities, more support for local sport and community programs, and a secure foundation for the years ahead.”
