Mingara Announces Approval for Retirement Living Project
Mingara Leisure Group has received planning approval for a thoughtfully designed retirement living community to be developed at its Tumbi Umbi site.
The project, supporting Mingara’s long-term commitment to the Central Coast community, will feature 215 retirement living apartments, 39 high-care suites, a range of new amenities including a café and dedicated parking.
Mingara is working in partnership with Pariter to deliver much-needed additional retirement living and aged care options in a region where demand continues to grow, while allowing people to remain connected to the place they know, the activities they enjoy and the community they are part of.
Mingara CEO Grant Gladman talked of the work that has been undertaken with Pariter over the past four years and said the approval responds to both the changing needs of the Central Coast and Mingara’s long-standing role in community life.
“Like many communities across the Coast, we’re seeing an increasing need for well-planned, local retirement living and aged care options, and we are truly excited about this transformative project,” Mr Gladman said.
“Mingara has always been a place where people come together — to stay active, to connect and to relax. This new community gives people the opportunity to continue that connection, close to what matters most to them.”
The approved plans include a mix of independent living and care, designed to support ageing within a familiar and connected environment.
“This addition complements what Mingara already is,” Mr Gladman continued.
“It allows us to grow in a considered way and continue supporting our members and the wider Central Coast community, now and into the future.”
Pariter, Mingara’s development and operating partner, is experienced in delivering community-focused living environments with an emphasis on wellbeing, connection and day-to-day experience.
Simon Adams, General Manager of Development for Pariter, said: “This is our third major retirement living project and it is shaping up to be one of our strongest.
“Our partnership with Mingara was a natural fit given our shared commitment to delivering a considered and community-led outcome. This is a long-term investment by both Mingara and Pariter.
“The focus is on creating a community that feels connected, supportive and genuinely part of the broader Mingara environment.”
The project has been shaped through detailed planning and consultation, with careful consideration given to integration within the existing precinct and the surrounding community.
Community highlights include:
- 215 retirement living apartments
- 39 high-care suites
- New amenities including café, cinema and consulting rooms, as well as access to the extensive facilities at Mingara Recreation Club
- Extensive landscaping
- Dedicated resident and visitor parking within the retirement community
- No change to existing Club parking.
The initiative responds to evolving community needs, including housing shortage, an ageing population, and a growing preference for connected, supportive living environments. It reflects a shift toward models that prioritise wellbeing, inclusion, and ongoing connection to community life.
