Club CEOs Called Upon to Combat Homelessness
ClubsNSW is urging club CEOs and senior executives across the state to register for the 2026 NSW Vinnies CEO Sleepout, taking place on Thursday, 18 June.
Key Points
- ClubsNSW is supporting the NSW Vinnies CEO Sleepout
- Club CEOs and senior leaders are encouraged to participate
- Events will take place in Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle
- Virtual participation is available for any club across NSW
- Opportunity for club leaders to demonstrate visible community leadership
Each night, more than 35,000 people experience homelessness across NSW — sleeping rough or living in inadequate accommodation. The impact continues to grow, particularly for young people and older women, highlighting the urgent need for collective action.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is an opportunity for business and community leaders to step outside their comfort zone, gain a deeper understanding of homelessness and raise critical funds to support frontline services.
For clubs, this is more than participation — it is leadership in action.
Participation Across NSW
This year’s Sleepout will bring together leaders across physical and virtual locations:
- Sydney — the flagship event at White Bay Cruise Terminal in Rozelle
- Wollongong and Newcastle — locally delivered Sleepouts hosted at Vinnies services, offering direct connection to frontline support
- Virtual participation — club leaders anywhere in NSW can take part by ‘sleeping out’ at home, whether in their car, backyard or on the couch.
Each format provides a meaningful way to contribute while raising awareness and funds for people experiencing homelessness.
A Call to Club Leadership
Clubs have long played a vital role in supporting their local communities; from ClubGRANTS funding to direct community partnerships.
The CEO Sleepout presents an opportunity to extend that impact through visible, peer-led leadership.
By participating, club CEOs and senior leaders can:
- Show solidarity with those facing homelessness
- Mobilise their teams, members and communities to support the cause
- Strengthen the industry’s collective voice on an issue affecting communities across NSW.
This is a chance for the club industry to come together and lead from the front.
ClubsNSW is encouraging strong participation across Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong, as well as broader regional involvement through virtual participation.
