Mounties Making ‘Wildest Dreams’ Come True
Together with Dreams2Live4, Mounties Group were able to fulfil the dream of a man who has been battling aggressive cancer since late last year.
Young, a devoted husband and father of two, was diagnosed with aggressive sarcoma at 44 and undergoes chemotherapy on a regular basis at Westmead hospital.
His dream to Dreams2live4 was to take his wife Cherie on a date night to see Taylor Swift live, adding that he loves “nothing more than see his wife Cherie happy”.
Thanks to a donation of two tickets by the Mounties Group, the couple were able to attend The Era’s concert at Accor Stadium, Sydney.
“We believe in the power of community and are committed to supporting individuals and families during difficult times,” said Mounties Group CEO Dale Hunt.
“It’s been a ‘cruel summer’ for our family indeed. But we’re excited to ‘Shake it Off’ for the night,” laughed Young.
A Big Win with a $14,500 Bid for Bingo the Steer
Bingo the Hereford Steer was recently auctioned off by Wagga Wagga RSL at the Wagga sale yards to raise money for Willans Hill School, which cares for children with diverse and complex needs.
Bingo, a 570-kilogram steer, was purchased for $12,500 by Aristocrat who then donated the steer back to the market for auction, where he sold for $2000 the second time.
“Willans Hill School really don’t get any government funding, what they need money-wise they have to raise so it's just a wonderful thing to do,” RSL President Peter Thomas said.
“The kids come out here and they love it.”
The proceeds are now helping pay off the bus purchased by the school which has allowed students to enjoy educational outings like the one to the Wagga sales yard.
Bingo was the 16th steer to be auctioned off by the RSL on behalf of the school.
‘Shut Up and Take My Money’: Couple Celebrate KFC-Themed Wedding at Local Club
A couple has celebrated their nuptials with a KFC-themed wedding reception held at Cabra-Vale Diggers in Sydney’s West.
Thanh Huynh and Brian Tran won the $80,000 wedding through a competition held by the fast-food giant, which asked Aussie lovebirds to propose in a creative way using the brand’s onion rings.
The ceremony took place at the Sydney Opera House before moving to the reception at Cabra-Vale Diggers.
KFC paraphernalia in the wedding included a KFC bucket-themed wedding cake, KFC buckets filled with blooms, chicken suits and personalised KFC buckets for guests. A grazing table also featured at the wedding, packed with the brand’s iconic chicken.
