Tuncurry Beach Bowlo Raising Money for a Good Cause

Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club is set to host a special fundraising event to support the Great Lakes Women’s Shelter. 

The shelter, located on Worimi land in the Forster-Tuncurry region, is a critical resource for women and children experiencing homelessness and domestic or family violence.

The Great Lakes Women’s Shelter offers a safe haven for those in need, providing experienced staff to support families in securing safe housing and accessing essential services. 

These services include legal, financial, and family support, counselling, and identifying other needs during their stay. The shelter’s operations are sustained by community support and government grants, with the local community playing a vital role in its continued success.

Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club has shown a strong commitment to this cause, pledging $100,000 over the next four years to the shelter, which accommodates up to 10 families at a time. This generous donation underscores the Club’s dedication to supporting vulnerable members of the community.

“The Great Lakes Women’s Shelter provides essential services to women and children in our community, and we are honoured to contribute to their mission.”

The MC for the event — a sports lunch on Friday, 26 July — is actor and comedian Darren Sanders, whose career spans over 30 years. 

The event will feature interviews with sports celebrities, auctions, raffles and a delicious two-course lunch. A drinks package including beer, soft drinks and wine is also included.  

All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Great Lakes Women’s Shelter. It promises not only an enjoyable afternoon but also a meaningful contribution to an essential community service. Bookings can be made here
