Tones and I Plays to Thousands of Fans at Young Services Club
The air was buzzing at Young Services Club as the Melbourne artist who’s taken the music world by storm performed back-to-back gigs in an intimate setting in the Club’s auditorium.
Tones and I - whose real name is Toni Watson - has become a household name in recent years and filled arenas performing her hit songs such as Cloudy Day, Dance Monkey and Bad Child.
Amazingly, the sold-out shows were organised by the Club’s team in just a few days.
“We received the call (from Tones and I’s management) Tuesday afternoon, offered all the info we could on our venue, the sound and production guys and what we had to offer,” says Young Services Club Marketing Manager Belinda Allen.
“On Wednesday around 1pm we received the email to say the show was confirmed for Friday night the same week.
“So, it was all systems go that afternoon to pull together staff, production and lighting guys, as well as stock the bars and run through how the night would run.”
It was then a matter of selling tickets - but with the star power of Tones and I, that was little problem.
“The first show went on sale Thursday morning 10am and sold out in four minutes which was crazy,” Belinda says. “The second went straight up and was sold out within the next few minutes; 1100 capacity across the two shows.”
Watson was kind enough to visit schools in the area before arriving at the Club on Friday afternoon.
The two shows went ahead without a hitch, much to the delight of thousands of fans, as well as the Club’s hardworking and exhausted team.
