Orange Ex-Services Club Prepares to Welcome Influential Leaders
Orange Ex-Services Club is preparing to host some of Australia’s most influential decision makers next week.
The News Corp Australia National Bush Summit, now in its sixth year, brings together politicians and community leaders to discuss the biggest issues and opportunities facing regional Australia.
It kicks off in Townsville today, before travelling to Bendigo, Launceston, McLaren Vale and Orange, before ending in Port Hedland.
Among the key issues to be discussed at the Bush Summit include crime, housing, infrastructure, health, education and cost-of-living.
Orange Ex-Services Club will play host when the delegation arrives in the Central Tablelands next Wednesday.
“We’re honoured to welcome and host NSW leaders and representatives to the Orange Ex-Services Club to discuss these important issues that impact our community,” says Club CEO Nathan Kelly.
“These events are essential for highlighting the challenges in regional areas like ours.
“Hosting the Bush Summit at the Orange Ex-Services Club reinforces the Club’s strong connection and reputation to our local community.”
ClubsNSW, under the Your Local Club banner, is proud to be a major partner of the NSW event for the second consecutive year.
In a video set to be played at the event, ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant says the Association is excited to return as a major sponsor.
“There are over 1100 clubs in NSW and more than 64 per cent of those are in regional and remote areas,” she says.
The Bush Summit will roll into Orange at a time when one of its areas of focus — crime — is dominating headlines in the town.
Residents this week told The Daily Telegraph that they have been left shaken by rising crime in the area.
It followed locals being woken to the sound of an explosion on Tuesday when a parked car was set alight, with the culprits making a quick getaway.
“It’s kids around here that are bored, they get a slap on the wrist, and they do it all again,” resident Catie told The Daily Telegraph.
Among those participating in the Bush Summit’s Orange event will be NSW Premier Chris Minns and Daily Telegraph Editor Ben English. Mining magnate Gina Rinehart will also address the audience via video link.
“We recently hosted Premier Chris Minns and cabinet ministers at the Community Cabinet back in May, which was great that we could play a role in these essential conversations for the future of our club and the local community,” says Nathan.
“We’re committed to supporting our community and look forward to the outcomes of this summit.”
