Kurri Kurri Bowling Club CEO Peter Fairbairn Embarks on Mega Run for Charity
Peter Fairbairn, the dynamic CEO of Kurri Kurri Bowling Club, isn’t just leading the charge within the walls of his Club — he is taking on the mammoth challenge of running 50 kilometres in the sweltering heat this weekend to champion a cause close to his heart.
Peter’s charity run is set to raise funds for the "Coaching Coaches to Support Neurodiverse Kids" initiative by Prelude Australia. The project seeks to empower junior sporting coaches and clubs with the knowledge, tools and resources necessary to foster inclusion, participation and access for neurodiverse children in sports. The goal? To fund approximately 250 children and families, creating a ripple effect of change in the community.
Starting tomorrow at 5:30am on the picturesque shores of Nobbys Beach and finishing at the beloved Kurri Kurri Bowling Club, Peter's 50-kilometre run is not just a physical feat but a powerful symbol of commitment to a cause that affects so many in the community.
Peter invites everyone to make a contribution — big or small — to make a lasting impact on the lives of neurodiverse children. He says he has been supporting “Coaching Coaches to Support Neurodiverse Kids” for around six years, and when they reached out for some additional help, he immediately jumped into action.
"They do so much for the community and don’t receive much funding, so this seemed like a no brainer,” Peter says.
“I started running about 12 years ago, I do a lot of adventure running and love long distances.” Peter says Kurri Kurri Bowling Club has been extremely supportive. “The Club has been really special, there’s notes being left each day, and more and more donations and coins being added each day. It looks like I will reach the $10,000 goal which is fantastic!
“A special shoutout must also go to our suppliers and manufactures who have donated 75 per cent of the funds so far.”
