Ian Robilliard OAM Appointed Chair of Mingara Leisure Group
Mingara Leisure Group has entered a new era of leadership with Ian Robilliard OAM elected as Chair, following the conclusion of Phil Walker’s distinguished tenure spanning almost three decades.
Robilliard was formally elected Chair at the Group’s Annual General Meeting on 23 November 2025, succeeding Walker, who stepped aside after 29 years on the Board and 14 years as Chair across two separate terms
While transitioning from the role of Chair, Walker will continue to serve as a Director, ensuring his extensive knowledge, leadership experience and historical perspective remain part of Mingara’s governance.
During his time on the Board, Walker played a pivotal role in guiding Mingara’s evolution from a single-venue Club into a multi-site, community-focused leisure group recognised as one of New South Wales’ leading organisations.
Under his stewardship, Mingara Leisure Group’s net asset position grew from $14 million in 1997 to more than $135 million, supported by strategic diversification, successful amalgamations with five additional clubs and the development of a new hotel on the Central Coast
Walker was also a strong advocate for excellence in governance, strengthening Board practices, risk management and transparency, while reinforcing Mingara’s long-standing commitment to community benefit.
Robilliard brings deep experience and a strong connection to the organisation. He joined the Mingara Leisure Group Board in 2019 and was elected Deputy Chair by his peers in 2020.
He has also maintained a long-standing relationship with Mingara through his involvement with the Central Coast Academy of Sport, reflecting his broader commitment to community development and sporting excellence
With Robilliard now stepping into the role of Chair and Walker remaining on the Board, Mingara Leisure Group enters its next chapter with continuity, experience and a clear focus on making a significant contribution to the quality of community life.
