The Greens Opens After Five-Year Rebuild
Members of The Greens The Entrance were delighted as a five-year journey of the Club’s rebuild finally came to fruition at the official opening.
Mingara Leisure Group amalgamated with The Entrance Bowling Club in 2019, but it got off to a difficult start with a devastating fire in March 2020, followed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
But the dedicated team, in collaboration with various agencies, consultants and contractors, worked to rebuild the Club from the ground up.
The newly completed $21 million clubhouse and cutting-edge undercover bowling greens have been built to the highest standards.
The Greens The Entrance now features competition-grade bowling facilities, barefoot bowls (including glow bowls), a bar offering a wide selection of classic and craft beers, as well as comprehensive TAB facilities.
Additionally, there are indoor and outdoor lounge areas and Theo’s—named in honour of the Club's first Greenkeeper, Theo Callaghan— which provides excellent value dining with a menu that includes beloved classics and fresh Mediterranean-inspired dishes. On Wednesday, 2 April, the new clubhouse and its facilities were officially opened by the Hon. David Harris MP, Minister for the Central Coast and Minister for Gaming and Racing, alongside Mingara Leisure Group Chair Phil Walker and CEO Paul Barnett.
“The official opening of the Club this morning is a huge win for The Entrance,” said Paul.
“The rebuilding of the new clubhouse and the state-of-the-art undercover bowling greens demonstrates why clubs are important to their local community, particularly this one, which has been the locals’ club for over 80 years.
“Neighbourhood clubs create spaces for locals with common interests for recreation, social connection and community contribution, and this makes a significant contribution to the community of The Entrance.
“We are grateful to club members for staying with us over the last few years as we navigated some pretty difficult times, including extended COVID lockdowns.
“We committed to the members the new club, with undercover bowling greens, would be built and we have delivered on this promise.
“The feedback from our members has been very humbling, with many telling us they’re happy to be back home. It’s sentiments like these that reinforce the importance of our vision ‘to make a significant contribution to the quality of community life’.
“The Greens The Entrance will forever be the locals’ club.”
