Enhancing Your Member Experience
To those who don’t know me, up until a few years ago, if you were lucky enough to know Marita Barron up in the northern parts of NSW, I was ClubsNSW’s southern equivalent — taking in Broken Hill, up to Lightning Ridge, into Sydney and down to the border.
Now, I’m back! Looking after the experience of ClubsNSW members. There’s plenty to do, so please bear with me as we work to focus directly on you and what you need, want, love and don’t like so much about what we’re doing. It’s all so we can better serve you, our members.
My focus over the first few months is to get out and about to see your elected regional committees and state councillors. I want to get a feel for how the region is going, what’s new, what’s the same in some respects and how we can best support you. One size doesn’t always fit all in our industry.
Recently, I popped into Bathurst RSL on my way out to Condobolin for the Central West regional meeting. It’s not quite the halfway point of getting around NSW, but it was a good opportunity to catch up with CEO Peter Sargent, President Ian Miller and Vice President Coral Miller.
I may have also gate crashed a retirement party — Lyn Bedwell was retiring after 30 years of service at the Club — an incredible achievement. I know we tend to have a few long-serving members in our industry, however, to have staff coming back to celebrate this wonderful woman and to hear the stories of why the Club is so important really drove home the importance of our regional clubs.
Having worked in this area for several years prior to leaving ClubsNSW my first time around, it’s never been wasted on me. But seeing this type of celebration is always a heart-warming reminder.
To the New England Tablelands and North West crew, thank you so much for your patience and adopting a change of date last minute. The 8.30am regional meeting after a race day solidifies that comment!
If I haven’t had the chance to visit your region yet and you would like to have a chat, please feel free to call me on 0412 922 754 or send me an email at [email protected].
