Elevating the Basement Brewhouse
It was a match made in heaven when Australia's fastest growing craft brewery, based in the Blue Mountains, partnered with Bankstown Sports to elevate their renowned craft offering, the Basement Brewhouse.
In October 2024, Mountain Culture co-founder and CEO DJ McCready and Head of Sales & Trade Marketing John Andrews sat down with then-Group Strategy & Commercial Manager Chris Villani to chat through plans for the Basement Brewhouse.
The group identified the strengths and opportunities for the space, and it was apparent to both parties that there were huge opportunities.
Bankstown had an incredible space that was at capacity on key sporting/event occasions but wanted to drive more beer lovers downstairs to stay for longer.
Mountain Culture has an endless list of awards and accolades, on top of a rapidly growing brand with beer lovers and fans who seek out the product.
Through some bespoke signage and branding directing consumers to the space, the joint business venture has driven an increase in foot traffic from upstairs to downstairs, combined with digital marketing and consumer giveaways utilising Mountain Culture’s brand to get new drinkers through the door.
Six Mountain Culture taps have driven over 400 per cent growth year-on-year, averaging over 12 kegs per week — including more than three of their flagship Status Quo Pale Ale that has been voted #1 beer in Australia, for the last three years.
“The partnership between Bankstown Sports Club and Mountain Culture brewery represents a shared commitment to hospitality excellence and innovation,” says Bankstown Sports Chief Financial Officer Chris Villani.
“Together, we are proud to bring exceptional craft beer experiences to our members and guests, while supporting local industry and fostering genuine connections.”
The success of Mountain Culture has led to the group expanding their partnership to the Bankstown Golf Club, utilising Mountain Culture's premium mid strength offering to elevate the experience on the green.
