Holman Barnes Group has announced the appointment of long-serving executive Daniel Paton as its new Chief Executive Officer – a move that signals a confident step forward for one of Sydney’s most established hospitality, entertainment and community organisations.
With more than 20 years experience in the gaming, hospitality and finance sectors – including the past nine years as Chief Financial Officer – Daniel is well placed to lead the Club into its next chapter of growth.
“It’s a huge privilege to lead a business with such a strong legacy, talented people and loyal membership,” says Daniel.
“We’ve got big plans underway and I’m excited to continue building on the momentum we’ve created.”
A strong supporter of community sport, Daniel is committed to maintaining the Group’s long-standing contribution to grassroots and elite pathways.
“Our investment in sport, especially rugby league, has always been a big part of how we give back to the community,” he says.
“We’ll continue to support grassroots development and create strong pathways, not just in rugby league, but across all of our 33 intra clubs.”
As CEO, Daniel’s focus will be on strengthening core operations while pursuing new business opportunities – including commercial property ventures, food and beverage innovation, and the delivery of a new hotel at the Wests Ashfield site.
“We’re thinking beyond the traditional club model,” Daniel explains.
“Diversifying our revenue through smart property investments and enhancing the member experience is key to future-proofing the business.”
Community remains central to the Group’s mission, with ongoing investment into facilities, people and programs.
“We’ve always been about more than just bricks and mortar,” Daniel says.
“Supporting our members, our people and our communities is what drives us, and we have exciting plans ahead that will deliver real impact where it matters most.”
Key projects already underway include the refurbishment and expansion of The Markets Club, a refreshed Croydon Sports Club, and several new commercial property investments.
With a refreshed leadership team and clear vision, Daniel is confident about the future.
“We’ve brought together a highly credentialed senior management team who, with our progressive board, are united in our vision.
“We’re in a very strong position to keep the momentum going.”
