Clubs Recognised For Their Remarkable Support Of Communities
NSW clubs have been celebrated for the incredible support they provide their communities at the 2024 Clubs & Community Awards Night.
From helping those impacted by domestic violence to making sport and other recreational activities accessible for those with disabilities, clubs across the state go above and beyond to make their communities better places to live.
Held at the ICC Sydney on Thursday, 6 June, more than 800 guests — including Minister for Hospitality & Racing David Harris; Minister for Police & Counter-Terrorism Yasmin Catley; and Leader of the NSW Nationals Dugald Saunders — recognised the outstanding social contributions of the state’s clubs at the black-tie event.
The winners and highly commended nominees were acknowledged across nine categories: Arts, Culture & Entertainment; Education; Emergency Services; Fostering Grassroots Sport; Health Care; Heart of the Community; Mental Wellbeing; Social Inclusion and Environmental Sustainability.
ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant said clubs are dedicated to making their communities better places to live, which was reflected in the record number of submissions received for this year’s awards.
“There were 139 incredibly deserving Clubs & Community Awards finalists this year — the judges really had their work cut out for them!” said Ms Riant.
“We had a club that helped set up a unique music program to support the mental health of veterans, a club that’s planted over 150 eucalypt trees to provide food for the local koala hospital, and a club that renovated a house and made it available to a domestic violence charity to use for crisis accommodation.
“The Clubs & Community Awards are a testament to our industry’s vital social contribution and a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and celebrate what makes clubs so special. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees — I can’t wait to see what you achieve next.”
