Club Maitland City’s New Charity Foundation
Club Maitland City has taken community support to a whole new level, founding their very own charity organisation — the CMC Foundation.
The CMC Foundation serves as a conduit for diverting funds toward local causes within the Maitland community which are raised from activities held at the Club. The foundation's primary goal is to raise funds dedicated to a spectrum of community projects, focusing on supporting local charities, sponsoring impactful community events, and extending assistance to those facing challenging circumstances.
Key areas of focus for the CMC Foundation include:
- People at risk of homelessness and people experiencing homelessness
- People in rural/regional/remote communities
- People with a chronic illness (including a terminal illness)
- People with disabilities
- Unemployed persons
- Victims of crime (including family violence).
Since it was established in July 2023, the CMC Foundation has achieved a lot. They kicked things off with Red Funnel — a food distribution service — and Maitland Regional Community Support (MRCS) to help those in need put meals on the table.
The collaborative effort resulted in a generous donation of $1500 worth of bulk dry goods to MRCS's kitchen. As a continued commitment, the Club initiated a weekly contribution of freshly cooked meals to MRCS.
In August, CMC Duty Manager Hayley Eveleigh orchestrated another impactful collaboration, this time with Harvey Norman in Rutherford. The joint effort led to the donation of white goods and electrical items valued at over $3000 to Carrie's Place, which provides person-centred, culturally appropriate programs that aim to empower vulnerable people who may have experienced domestic violence and other forms of trauma and abuse.
This significant contribution played a pivotal role in furnishing a home for a local family, facilitating their transition away from the hardships of domestic violence.
In November, the Cash Housie sessions kicked off, marking a significant chapter in Club Maitland City's philanthropic journey in support of the CMC Foundation. In a mere two months, these sessions, raised over $45,000 for the Foundation.
December was a milestone moment for the CMC Foundation as it proudly donated $10,000 each to its three major partners — Carrie’s Place, Maitland Regional Community Support (MRCS) and the Harry Meyn Foundation, a local children’s cancer charity.
Looking ahead, the CMC Foundation envisions expanding its reach and impact. Plans include diversifying its fundraising efforts, collaborating with more community stakeholders, and identifying new projects that align with the foundation's mission.
