Club Corowa has teed off a new era of family entertainment with the launch of its state-of-the-art $1 million mini golf course, which has already been described as “one of the best in the world” by a visiting player.
More than 20 local trades were involved in the construction, ensuring the project stayed completely local.
A recent launch event attracted the local mayor, councillors and others from across the Corowa community.
“We had the option of going with a mini-golf-in-a-box solution, but instead we project-managed it ourselves and chose our own contractors,” says Club CEO Peter Norris.
“That strategy allowed us to support local businesses while tailoring the course to suit our community.”
The course stands out with thoughtful touches not often seen in similar venues.
“We noticed other courses lacked shade and cooling, so we installed cold plumbed water and even a misting tunnel,” says Peter.
“On a hot day the kids can press a button and enjoy a cool blast of mist—it’s a lot of fun.”
Since opening, the course has seen a plethora of players having a putt.
“Last Saturday we had 180 green fee players and over 100 on Sunday—that was before the NSW school holidays,” says Peter.
“We’re seeing as many adult groups as we are kids, and lots of visitors from Albury, Wagga and surrounding towns.”
The unique design has impressed serious golfers and families alike, with one international visitor declaring it the best mini golf he had ever played.
“We’re really proud of the result—it’s not just another gimmicky course,” says Peter.
“It’s fun for kids but still challenging for adults.”
Beyond entertainment, the project is already driving wider economic benefits for the region.
“It’s bringing people into the Club who may not have visited otherwise,” Peter says.
“That’s great for both us and the local economy.”
