Belmont 16s Marks International Women’s Day by Helping Local Women Find Employment
As part of International Women’s Day 2025, Martha Drink & Dine at Belmont 16s is championing women’s empowerment through a meaningful community initiative in partnership with local not-for-profit Dress for Success Newcastle & Hunter.
Throughout the month of March, Martha’s fundraising campaigns will provide direct support to local women striving for economic independence, aligning with the global push to create real change today.
Martha’s has an exclusive wine collaboration with renowned Hunter Valley winemaker David Hook Wines, offering three premium varietals that perfectly complement Martha’s Mediterranean-inspired menu.
This month, those who sample the wine range will be helping local women who are struggling to gain employment. For every bottle of Martha Wine sold throughout March, the Club will donate $20 to Dress for Success Hunter & Newcastle. The range includes a sparkling Sangiovese rosé, a chardonnay and a red wine option. As well as wine, from Thursday 6 March to Sunday 9 March, Martha’s will also donate 100 per cent of the sale price of its specially created Strawberry & Rose Panna Cotta with Martha Pink Fizz Jelly dessert to the cause.
“This initiative is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a way for our guests to engage with a cause that truly changes lives,” said Scott Williams, CEO of Belmont 16s Sailing Club.
“We are committed to empowering women in our community and ensuring they have the tools and confidence to re-enter the workforce successfully.”
Other initiatives include Leave a Message of Hope – where guests at Martha’s receive a postcard-sized card with their bill, featuring a QR code where they can leave words of encouragement for women benefiting from Dress for Success.
“Each year, more than 3000 women from metropolitan, regional and rural NSW turn to Dress for Success NSW & ACT for support,” said Carolyn Ellis, Newcastle & Hunter Operations Manager for Dress for Success.
“A donation from this campaign will help women from the Lake Macquarie LGA step into interviews feeling confident—inside and out—giving them the best chance to secure meaningful employment.”
